PRESENTATION
"Les mystères de l'Ouest", cette série-culte (avec Robert Conrad et Ross Martin, sans oublier Michael Dunn), et l'expression n'est pas galvaudée loin de là en la circonstance, met en scène les aventures d'un duo d'agents des services secrets américains. Tous deux sont aux ordres du président des États-Unis, Ulysses S. Grant (dont le mandat courre de 1869 à 1877). James T. West est un homme d'action. Artemus Gordon est un as du déguisement et des inventions anachroniques. Se déplaçant tantôt à cheval, tantôt dans leur luxueux train à vapeur privé, les deux compères affrontent des adversaires hors du commun dans tout l'Ouest américain...

Diffusion France :
- Première diffusion du 09 Avril au 02 Juillet 1967 sur la 2ème chaîne de l'ORTF. Les épisodes de la première saison (non doublés à l'époque) ont été diffusés, eux, du 06 Novembre 1999 au 19 Février 2000 sur Cinétoile.
- Nouvelle diffusion d'épisodes de la saison II, du 7 janvier au 31 mars 1968 sur la 2ème chaîne de l'ORTF.
- Nouvelle diffusion d'épisodes de la saison III du 24 Janvier au 04 Avril 1970 sur la 2ème chaîne de l'ORTF.
- Information importante ! Diffusion d'épisodes inédits (on en recense pas moins de 34 !) et rediffusion dans le cadre de l'émission "La Une est à Vous" (entre septembre 1973 et janvier 1975) sur la 1ère chaîne de l'ORTF, puis dans "Samedi est à Vous" (entre janvier 1975 et octobre 1976) sur TF1. Une programmation qui aura ancré la série dans l'imaginaire collectif des téléspectateurs français de l'époque et encore un peu aujourd'hui.
- Par la suite, "Les mystères de l'Ouest" fut multi-rediffusée notamment par Antenne 2 et plus récemment par Paris Première.
