Roddy McDowall est né le 17 septembre 1928 au Royaume-Uni. Le comédien est décédé le 3 octobre 1998 en Californie. Tout d'abord, il faut souligner le fait que McDowall a fait ses grands débuts au cinéma en 1938. Il n'avait alors que dix ans. Ainsi, dans les années 1940, il commence à se faire remarquer au cinéma dans Qu'elle était verte ma vallée (1941) et Fidèle Lassie (1943).
Cependant, McDowall reste surtout connu pour le rôle de Cornelius. C'était dans le film La planète des singes en 1968. Ensuite, McDowall est également apparu dans d'autres productions à succès. On retiendra en priorité Le Jour le plus long (1962), Cléopâtre (1963), L'Aventure du Poséidon (1972) ou encore dans Meurtre au soleil (1982).
Enfin, concernant la priorité du présent article, le comédien aussi joué de nombreuses séries. On citera donc Batman, La Planète des Singes, Le Voyage Extraordinaire, Columbo et Code Quantum. Sans oublier de multiples téléfilms largement programmés en France notamment par La Cinq et M6.
